Dialectical Behavioral Therapy has been the foundation of Darby's counseling style since beginning in the field. DBT offers clients a variety of skills sets including distress tolerance, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. The approach also offers the opportunity to shift perspectives and overall mindsets when facing difficult situations. Darby's ultimate goal in providing DBT services is to help clients master Radical Acceptance. Radical Acceptance is a learned, practiced, and mastered skill that allows us to let go of circumstances that are outside of our control. By learning to balance change and acceptance, we create a life with less distress and suffering.
While developing a treatment plan for individual counseling, Darby will assess your interest in DBT and the need for particular skill use. For those who find it necessary, more structured and skill-based sessions may be provided.
